Parade of Homes 2024 Recap: Medallion Wins Big!

Apr 01, 2024

Though we don’t build homes for the awards, Medallion Home proudly showcases our homes at the Parade of Homes Manatee & Sarasota Counties each year. It’s a chance for us to show our quality craftsmanship and unique custom designs to prospective homebuyers and represent what they can expect from every home we build. This year was no different. We were honored to be among the top award-winning home builders and to be recognized for several of our homes throughout the area.

Our List of Award-Winning Homes

Parade of Homes 2024 was held in various captivating neighborhoods and developments from March 9th to March 28th. It is a highly anticipated yearly event that celebrates and explores cutting-edge model homes of award-winning home builders in the Manatee and Sarasota Counties. The homes represent the latest in design, energy efficiency, and sustainability while showing off the wonderful West Coast Florida lifestyle. This area is often called “paradise” for its pristine white sand beaches, gorgeous landscapes, exotic tropical vegetation, rich history and culture, vibrant cityscapes, and fun activities at every corner. Attendees experience the diversity of Southwest Florida living and discover inspiring new homes and communities firsthand.

Featuring 100 models and 6 communities/developments, the Parade of Homes highlights the region's appeal for varied lifestyles while emphasizing quality construction and environmental stewardship. What Is A Parade of Homes?

The Parade of Homes is not only held in the Manatee and Sarasota Florida counties and wasn’t always the big deal it is today. There are numerous Parade of Homes events held across the country throughout the year. So, what is a Parade of Homes? Here’s a little history to help shine a light on this highly anticipated event.

The event grew from humble beginnings as an event organized by the local Home Builders Association of Minneapolis, Minnesota in the early 1940s. It was meant to promote new construction homes for World War II veterans returning home and needing housing. Being able to showcase homes to potential buyers was a new idea that gained popularity quickly. Eventually, other cities started hosting their own Parade of Homes, becoming an annual event in many areas throughout the 1950s and 60s.

The Parade of Homes became a way for architects and builders to present the latest trends and innovations in the housing industry. It was also a way for homebuyers and homeowners to explore new homes and compare building styles and designs, potentially gaining inspiration for their own homes. The events have expanded to showcase everything from small villas and townhomes to large luxurious estates and now include more eco-friendly homes. These events have become a substantial part of the housing industry sponsored by local home builders associations and home building conglomerates. Each county’s Parade of Homes offers a diverse showing of homes and communities that meet the needs of many different preferences and budgets. While it’s best to go in person, visitors can now explore the model homes virtually. This is still a great way to get inspiration and see the latest designs from top builders.

It’s been an incredible journey, from its history of helping veterans find homes to the present national event that helps homebuyers compare and explore homes. This is why builders like Medallion Home take pride in participating each year.

In Florida and throughout the country, PGT Impact Windows are the gold standard when it comes to storm protection. Here at Medallion Home, we initially offered these premium windows as an upgrade because of the investment but they provide so much benefit to the home and peace of mind to the homeowner that we've decided to make them our standard in every home we build. What Are Impact Windows? Impact windows combine heavy-duty aluminum frames with impact-resistant, laminated glass and a special silicone glazing process to keep the glass from breaking away from its frame. That means that during storms and hurricanes, if flying debris hits your windows, they will stay intact rather than shatter, protecting your home from the elements and people and pets from shards of glass. But these windows can do even more. Noise Reduction Your home should be your sanctuary, one where you leave the outside world at the door and that includes noise. Noise pollution is a very real thing and can disrupt your sleep at night, focus during work, or even a good movie night. PGT's impact windows reduce noise from outside by as much as 65%. UV Protection The sun's UV rays are good in small doses to help your body create essential Vitamin D, but there's really no good reason to have them flooding the interior of your home. These powerful rays can fade your furniture, flooring, and drapes, making these items look old and worn before their time. Impact windows can preserve the beauty of your home and help you save money by filtering out 99% of UV rays while still allowing in natural sunlight. Maximum Energy Savings Heating and cooling a home accounts for nearly half of the average American home's energy costs. Security About 23% of all home break-ins are accessed through a first-floor window. Impact windows are designed to withstand repeated impact from a 9-lb, 2x4 beam traveling at 34 miles per hour. It's very, very hard to break an Impact Window (if it can be done at all). It's not the kind of challenge most burglars want to face. Return on Investment For all the reasons above, particularly in Florida where tropical storms and hurricanes are a way of life, impact windows are appealing in any home. These specialty windows can yield as much as an 80% return on investment, ensuring that you'll get top dollar should you ever need to sell your home. Now Standard in All Medallion Homes High quality, impact-resistant windows shouldn't be luxuries - they should be standard features. That's why we now include them in every new home we build. Enjoy the benefits of increased storm protection, noise reduction, UV protection, savings, and security every day. Contact us to learn more.

At Medallion Home, we take great pride in creating homes that are well-built, comfortable, and beautiful . With that as a starting point, it's no wonder that for our homeowners, one of the best parts of owning a Medallion home is the opportunity to decorate and add their own personal style. Here are some expert tips for decorating your luxury Medallion home with just the right paint colors. Choosing the Right Home Interior Paint Colors Paint is an easy way to add elegance and sophistication while reflecting your style and your home's innate splendor. Our professional design team carefully chooses paint colors for all our move-in ready homes. They can also work directly with you to help choose a color that works best for your style. If you follow the same guidelines that the professionals use, you'll be able to find luxury paint colors that make your new Medallion home shine. Get Inspired Look through magazines and design sites for stimulation or take inspiration from your favorite pieces of art. Consider your existing furniture and accessories. Having an idea of what appeals to you is a good place to start. Create a mood board with pieces of each design element - a tile or wood sample, a pillow, statement accessories - and choose a paint color that pulls the whole room together. Know Your Colors & Hues It seems obvious but choosing colors you like for your interiors is a sound basis for a decorating plan. Experiment with lighter or darker shades of your favorite colors. Colors look different in gradient hues. Use color Theory to see how colors relate to each other. Instead of looking for a perfect match, go for a complementary tone. Remember: it's all about balance.
