Wear your most festive red, white, and blue, gather your friends and family, and head out to enjoy one of the many 4th of July celebrations happening in Sarasota and Mount Dora! This year we're thankful to be able to spend the holiday with those we love at parks, on beaches, at cook-outs, and at parades. And residents of Medallion Home communities are lucky enough to have such great events in their own backyards! Here are a few of our favorites.
July 4th Activities in Sarasota
Sunday, July 4th
All-American Cookout - Come for the food and stay for the fireworks at the All-American Cookout at Selby Gardens in Downtown Sarasota. Favorite holiday dishes will be available for purchase and there will be an open bar and prime viewing of the City of Sarasota fireworks. Celebration from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
American Fanfare - The Choral Artists of Sarasota present rousing songs celebrating America alongside the Lakewood Ranch Wild Ensemble. Show starts at 4 p.m.
July 4th Parade Along the Sarasota Bayfront - This parade pays tribute to veterans, first responders, medical professionals, and front line workers. It begins at Mound St. and winds down U.S. 41, ending at J.D. Hamel Park. American Idol star Alana Sherman will perform the national anthem at the end point, followed by the Sarasota Bayfront Fireworks. Parade begins at 8 p.m.
Fireworks Spectacular over Sarasota Bay - Enjoy this impressive show of fireworks launched from a boat anchored on Sarasota Bay. Viewers will be able to see the display from almost anywhere downtown, including Bayfront Park and Island Park. Show starts at 9 p.m.
The 4th of July Fireworks Display on Siesta Key - This spectacular fireworks show draws crowds upwards of 30,000 to Siesta Beach. Be sure to leave your own fireworks at home and come enjoy the show from anywhere south of the volleyball courts, along Crescent Beach, from the Gulf, or from the Intracoastal waterway. Fireworks start at 9 p.m.
July 4th Activities in Mount Dora
Saturday, July 3rd
Mount Dora Freedom on the Waterfront - Elizabeth Evan Park will be the site of a festive Independence Day celebration that includes live music, a Kid's Zone, food trucks, beverage stations, and plenty of fun. American Idol star Alexis Gomez will perform on the main stage, and the evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Sora. Event starts at 5 p.m.
Independence Day Parade - This patriotic tribute parade in downtown Mount Dora begins at the corner of Donnelly and 7th Avenue and ends at Charles Avenue. Parade begins at 10 a.m.
